Talent Profile

Amber Krycka

Amber Krycka

Amber Krycka is general assignment reporter and anchor at WJAX-TV Jacksonville, Florida. She is an inspiring and dramatic reporter who brings passion and commitment to each and every story she tells.  She is an accomplished mmj and frequent ratings period special assignment contributor. Amber joined the Action News Jax team in August 2016 from WTVQ, Lexington, Kentucky. Her career began in North Platte, Nebraska where she was both a reporter and news anchor.

Already, her reporting career is bringing her face to face with historic events and people. She’s covered hurricanes in Florida, Kentucky Derby’s, tornados in Nebraska, the historic Senate race of Mitch McConnell vs. Alison Grimes, and national events too. When Kentucky clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Amber witnessed both her arrest and her release from jail.

Of them all, Amber says she is most proud of helping push a firefighter cancer bill through the Kentucky state legislature.  A Lexington firefighter was diagnosed with cancer and died after a long struggle for his life. Before he died, she reported several stories on legislation entitling the families of firefighter cancer victims to receive in-line-of-duty death benefits.

She also raised the awareness of homeless veterans in central Kentucky by reporting widely on their plight.

Personally, Amber is a small-town girl from Michigan.  She graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan. She volunteers at a local nursing home; participates actively in her church, sings, plays the piano and keeps both her head and body in shape by kick-boxing a bag at a local gym.
