Alyssa’s passion to tell stories and learn about people through sports began in college at the University of Idaho. As a student-athlete, she gained unique perspective on the sports world, and extra conditioning running from her practice to other sports practices to shoot interviews and produce features. She has an affinity for the Inland Northwest. Alyssa became a sports anchor and reporter for 4 News Now in 2017, but she was no stranger to the company. During the summer of 2011, she was a sports news intern at 4 News Now. Long before that, she spent six years as a child growing up in Spokane, as the daughter of former KREM 2 Reporter and Anchor Scott Charlston. During her career at Idaho, she was a two-time first team All-Conference and two-time Capital One Academic All-America. Alyssa was part of the Vandal team that won back-to-back WAC Championships, making it to the NCAA Tournament twice and facing UConn the first year, then Louisville. Alyssa played basketball professionally in Luxembourg immediately after college. Her team won the national championship in Luxembourg in her solo season overseas, and she traveled all over Europe on her days off. When Alyssa returned to America, she dove right into a sports broadcasting career. First as a Digital Media Correspondent for the Idaho Vandals, then as a videographer/digital media reporter and producer for the University of Washington. She covered one of the most successful sports seasons in UW history, with a PAC-12 football championship and the #1 overall NBA and WNBA draft picks of 2017. Outside of work, Alyssa loves to stay active, trying out activities she’s clueless about like cycling, running for fun and yoga. She also loves crafting and design.
