Walter Makaula

Walter Makaula was an anchor and reporter at KCRA in Sacramento who was also part of the investigative team.  Walter is an Emmy award winning journalist and comes to Northern California from Miami where he co-anchored the weekday morning newscast for the CBS owned & operated station WFOR in Miami, Florida.  Walter has a diverse journalistic background. His experience ranges from stories about international fugitives on the run to the Hollywood red carpet.  Walter won the Crime Stoppers International Media Award in Calgary Canada for his television news series Hawaii’s Most Wanted. His reports, and collaboration with federal, state, and county law enforcement agencies led to the apprehension of 12 fugitives.  He has covered the American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance finales for viewers across the country, and has interviewed newsmakers including Hillary Clinton, Ben Affleck, Sir Anthony Hopkins and David Beckham.  Walter has a knack for choosing warm weather cities with great beaches to live and work in. Prior to moving to Miami, he spent nearly six years anchoring all of the FOX affiliate's evening newscasts in San Diego.  He’s originally from Hawaii where anchored the 5 p.m. news at NBC affiliate KHNL and co-anchored the station's top-rated evening newscast at 9 p.m. each weekday.  Prior to KHNL, he worked as a general assignment reporter at KGMB, the CBS affiliate in Honolulu.  Before his television broadcasting career, he created and produced the award-winning Entertainment News Review show.  In his spare time, Walter enjoys traveling to exotic places. In the last two years, he’s been to Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Colombia, Peru & Chile and Mexico.  Walter has also lived in Tokyo, Paris and Milan.
