Nick Smith

Nick Smith

Nick Smith may have grown up in Chicago, but he’s called multiple corners of our country home. Nick is an Army Veteran, a UC Berkeley graduate and a television professional with years both in front of and behind the camera under his belt. You can catch Nick Monday thru Friday Hosting “FOX 5’s Like It Or Not” at 7 p.m. and as co-anchor of our 9 p.m. newscast on FOX 5 Plus. If Nick looks familiar, well, it’s because there’s a good chance you’ve seen him somewhere on TV before. His love of storytelling draws you in and lingers with you long after. Breaking News? He’s covered it. Nick hit the ground as a field correspondent for ABC News One, covering the breaking news of national events. But Nick’s knack is his relaxed style and ability to connect with viewers. That first really shone when he was working as a morning news anchor and live reporter for the Army/Navy game, traditionally held in Philadelphia. Who remembers anymore if Nick’s Army won that year, but viewers did when Nick’s winning style opened doors outside the newsroom. In 2006, ABC’s summer reality show “American Inventor” had the bright idea to have Nick host. Then 2009 took off for Nick when he was chosen as talent for international airline carrier, Qantas. In 2010, Nick hosted “The San Francisco Chronicle/ 53rd Annual International Auto Show.” There, he was spotted by producers of the Emmy Award Winning drama “24” and offered a role in the Season 8 Premiere. Nick’s live reports have appeared on E! Entertainment Television, FOX News Channel, The Weather Channel, World News Now, Live! With Regis & Kelly, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and, most recently, World News Tonight with David Muir. In 2015, Nick set off on a mission to explore the planet bite by bite in Street Eats. Nick didn’t just host the show. He also wrote and produced it along with his team at Tremendous Entertainment for the Travel Channel. Episodes still air on the Asian Food Channel, broadcasting to over 130 million viewers in 13 countries.  Itadakimasu! In 2016 Nick was cast in the documentary television series “Justice By Any Means” hosted by Malik Yoba. The one-hour true crime reenactment series features various cases involving African Americans trying to find justice for a loved one. In 2017, Williams-Sonoma-owned West Elm identified Nick as a social media influencer. Nick was featured in their 30-second national TV spot encouraging consumers to get "House Proud" by boasting about the grown-up and sustainable furniture and decor they've purchased for their homes.
